Welcome to the Pastor's Desk...

This is where you will find important messages (okay sometimes just musings) from Pastor Rob. We have made him solemnly swear to write a new blog at least every Monday. He refused and said it was "unbiblical to 'swear' to anything..." sheesh - pastor's. So he did at least agree to writing one blog per week. Here is is...

Our Women's Bible Study Groups have been having a fantastic time studying "end times" with Beth Moore's 12 week DVD series in the Book of Daniel. It has gone so well that there has been an overwhelming desire to continue studying "ene times" by now moving into Beth Moore's next series, which just happens to beThe Book of Revelation. Our ladies meet each Tuesday at 12:00 noon at Kathryn McKeown's 440 Eureka Ave. and/or Wednesday Evening at 4:30pm at Ida Bergstrom's 776 Woodland Dr. NE. Now for some exciting news in addition to this...

The guys want in on this as well! So, beginning this week we will be starting a 3rd group which will study the same material (The Book of Revelation by Beth Moore) hosted by Pastor Rob & Kathryn at the Church immediately following the Prayer Meeting on Wednesday Evening at 7pm. This Study is open to all adults. I hope to see you there!

Have you ever tried to walk in really deep mud with rubber boots on? And then have you had that rubber boot get stuck in the mud and come off your foot just to remain stuck right where your foot had put it. Well, that's the closest description I can come up with to explain yesterday's preaching. I thought I had received a word from the Lord, but then He began changing things up. He started by erasing my opening. I usually use humor or an interesting story. Obviously it was "my opening" and not HIS. Then, as I'm trying to preach, there were all kinds of distractions; everything from a child whinning, to someone who must have had a bladder infection. I tried my hardest to persevere and get some traction, but to no avail. It just wasn't going to work.  I thought would give it one last try by talking about the tragedy Haiti and just then the projection computer decided take a break - I knew God was saying no more of 1 Corinthians 3. That's when my foot finally came out of the boot and I was helplessly stuck - (it was time to close the computer). Then, of course, God showed up - testimonies built faith and faith released healing in the house . It was wonderful to see God show up in that way - it just wasn't fun being the last one clued in on what He had in mind. Oh well, that's God's, call not mine.

Update on the healing of my right foot... I had 5 wounds when I began this process of specialized medical treatment through S.T.E.P.S. On Dec. 22, I told you that my big toe was healed (3 down, 2 to go). Well, as of yesterday, the sore on the inside of my foot is also considered "healed." Praise the Lord... 4 down, 1 to go - and the one last lession on the ball of my foot is closing very quickly. Thank you for your continued prayer!

At this moment, I am surrounded by 25 teenagers who are listening to pastor Armando. He is preaching to his generation in a way that I could never do. He is reaching them for Jesus and I wouldn't be surprised if a dozen kids get saved right now. The anointing is thick in this place. I was here to train this team. Well, they are ready. Tonight they graduate! I will attend, off and on, but it is time to turn over a ministry to these young leaders who are now ready. Thank you, Lord.  I prayed for laborers and you gave me Mondo and Hank and Lindi and Bryan and Lacy and more who are about to jump in. Wow... what a miracle. If you want to be a part of what God is doing right now, come talk to me.

Due to requests after this mornings service, here is both the poem (Anyway) and the 22 One Anothers.

Anyway

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered…

Love them anyway!

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives…

Be kind anyway!

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies…

Succeed anyway!

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow…

Be good anyway!

Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable…

Be honest and frank anyway!

What you spend years building, may destroyed overnight…

Build anyway!

People need help, but may attack you if you try to help them…

Help them anyway!

In the final analysis, it is all between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway!

2009 is coming to a close quickly. As we approach 2010, I believe the Lord would have us do a couple more things as a church. First, we need to stand together in prayer and New Year's Eve is a great time to do that. Doug will be gretting the word out about what time we are gathering, but there will be a group at the church this Thursday evening. Secondly, please recognize our enemy is outraged! He is livid that so many people are coming to Lord through your efforts. Another young man gave his life to the Lord for the first time this past Sunday. Please, don't receive any gossip that could come your way. If someone wants to vent or is offended by something and just needs "to talk" please reject this, since it is sin, and refer the individual back to the person whom they are offended with. This will quell the enemy's efforts at bringing division.

Thank you for a great year together! It is an honor and a privelage to serve alongside such wonderful people. A special thank you goes out to our staff, council and church leaders for their fathfulness and service to the Lord. Have a blessed 2010!

My toe is healed! After a year + of trying to heal the diabetic lesion on the big toe on my right foot, it is finally 100% closed up. A big "Thank You" to all of you who have stood beside me in prayer.  Thank you, Bill & Caryl Jones, who nursed me and helped me understand that it IS godly to take care of myself - so I may better care for others. Thank you Gathering Place Staff & Leaders for your loyalty and your love. You're the best!

There are still 2 fairly new lesions on my foot (other locations) that are healing very quickly. It was the event around theirformation that forced an aggessive plan of action through Silverton Hospital's S.T.E.P.S. program. This along with a prophetically inspired attitude, that I was going to "stand my ground" and fight (Ephesians 6) no matter what I saw in the natural, that changed everything. I guess that's a description of Faith. Thank you Jesus... to Him be the glory, Amen!

Our Christmas service was so cool! I love watching kids perform. They do the funniest things when there is a microphone or a camera around, don't they? It seemed as though Holy Spirit was really running the whole thing from beginning to end. God touched people in unusual and creative ways. I was surprised to hear someof the feedback that I did.

Thank you, all who took the time to write a card or note to Kathryn and I. We really appreciated the kind words and encouragement! Thank you for the thoughtful and generous gifts as well... Merry Christmas my friends.

I am excited to see what God is going to do begining 2010. Our season of Fasting and the Feasting was to prepare us as a community for what He is about to do. He has been weighing heavy on my heart with His message for the Church. I will begin the New Year with a series of prophetic words that God is seaking to the church of Silverton and specifically The Gathering Place. 'I'm chomping at the bit' to begin... God has alrady had me laughing and crying over what He is leading me speak about. It is a totaling uplifting word, while also being tough and challenging. My hope is that you will try to be present for each one of the Sundays in January to hear this and to experience what God is doing in our midst! Please add this to your list of New Year's Resolutions...

"I will do my best to be present every Sunday morning in 2010."

I sure hope you were in church this past Sunday...

I've never seen anything like it before - in ours or in any other church; in my humble opinion. If you couldn't be there, let me explain what I observed. This was a typical Sunday of late - we started with a couple of handfuls of people and then we were filling up the Main Auditorium throughout worship (December is not usually a well attended month as people are busy. Not Sundays lately, though; we were approaching full - very fun for a change). The sermon was nothing to write home about - at least from my perspective - I wasn't sensing anything terribly anointed nor was there any kind of hype, it was just 'even keel'. Then toward the end, Marge Peterson asked if she could say something and she publically repented for not forgiving someone who had hurt her (well done, Marge!). I wrapped the sermon and prayed God to give courage and faith to those He had brought there to get saved. After a simple altar call... at first 1, then 2 raised their hands. No hype, just waiting upon the Lord. Then 4 more at once. Waiting longer for God to move and more and more raised their hands. I recognized a few who had made decisions previously, but many more who were either first time guests or whom I've never seen make a decision to Christ. While this may sound like many other altar calls you have seen in the past, the difference is that we exceeded 20% of those in attendance. Now I know why you weren't there... it was to make room for the lost so they could get saved.

Now get back into church asap and be sure to bring your unsaved family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. There is an anointing that you don't want to pass by you.
